Powell's Creek Trail (Leesylvania State Park)

This short trail provides a quiet walk that is great for pets. Other than a few steep steps, the trail is very gentle. We suggest that you hike it after visiting the more scenic Lee's Woods Trail.
Distance:
1.5mi
Difficulty:
Easy
Scenery:
Fair
Location:
Leesylvania State Park
Daniel K Ludwig Drive
Woodbridge,, VA
Metro Accessible:
No
Additional Directions:
The park is about an hour drive (~30miles) south of DC, and is located just southwest of Mason Neck State Park. The directions from Google Maps are straightforward.
What to Bring:
Water and snacks. Entry to park is $4. We visited the park during the week and the Visitor Center was not open, so make sure you bring the trail map.
Food Options:
There is a mega Wawa gas station and convenience store at the intersection of Neabsco and Rte 1 if you need to stop and get water and/or snacks. There is a snack bar and groceries available at the park store that operates April-October. Pizza, sandwiches, some breakfast food, etc. is served.
Additional Information:

Check out this YouTube Video for an intro to the hike. There is a lot to do at this park, so if you want to do some kayaking, fishing, play volleyball, etc,. check out the park website for more information.

This is a short, peaceful trail that is good for a dog walk. If you are looking for something a bit longer, we suggest that you try the Lee's Woods Trail first and then drive to Powell's Creek Trail on your way out of the park. If you are looking for something much longer, you can connect the two trails via the Bushey Point Trail. However, this will require that you have two cars so that you can park one at each end of the hike.

The trailhead is found in a parking lot on your right just after you pay to enter the park. The trail is well marked and easy to navigate. Just follow the map.
