Mt. Pleasant Heritage Trail

Mt. Pleasant Heritage Trail

Thursday, July 4, 2013 - 12:16pm
Mt. Pleasant, while not considered a destination neighborhood like Georgetown or DuPont, is one of the city's prettiest. On this hike you will see some beautiful homes, tree-lined streets, and get a good dose of local history. If you have chance, take this hike in the Fall, when the leaves are changing color.

Additional Information:

This is one of the DC's Heritage Trails. Signs are posted along the trail to point out places of historical interest. The trails provide great opportunities to learn local and national history, as well as visit DC's distinct neighborhoods.

This is a great trail to walk in the Fall, when there is wonderful foliage. Mount Pleasant borders Rock Creek Park, so there are lots of trees. You also will pass some large colonial homes hovering well above the street. On this trail you will be exposed to a great deal of local history pertaining to this historically-diverse neighborhood. The trail finishes on Mt Pleasant Street, where there are a number of restaurant options or places to simply sit and have a beer or coffee. We recommend Tonic (between Kilbourne and Lamont) for a beer or Heller's (between Park and lamont) for a coffee.
