Located just south of Georgetown and west of GW, Theodore Roosevelt National Island offers an excellent opportunity for city folk to enjoy the great outdoors. The Swamp Trail is a gentle trail that takes you around the perimeter of the island and offers some nice views of the Potomac. Make sure you stop in the Memorial Plaza to see the large statue of Teddy and check out the fountains. The Plaza is also a great place to stop and have a picnic.
