Mandala Workshop, Flow + Meditative artwork
The word mandala comes from a Sanskrit word that generally means “circle”. A Mandala represents wholeness, a cosmic diagram reminding us of our relation to infinity, extending beyond and within our bodies and minds. Mandalas can be created by individuals to symbolize their journeys through life. Mandalas can also tell a story of where an individual has been. In some cases they will reveal the individual's path in life.
This fun and relaxing workshop will have two parts:
In the first part, we will flow trough a 50 minute Mandala (circular) Vinyasa flow that incorporates interesting and fluid transitions which take you on a little journey around your mat. Most of the postures should be familiar, but the transitions might be new or different.
The second part will teach you an easy way to get started creating hand drawn mandalas using simple repetitive techniques and easy to find supplies. The repetition of the design within a mandala is a form of meditation that quiets the mind and takes your outside the stress of everyday living. By working with specific colors and patterns, this meditative painting practice will connect you to a deeper energy. A basic overview of Color meaning in Buddhist tradition, will help you have a better understanding of the qualities of the colors and how to know the influence of them on one’s life.
Invest a moment in time and allow your mind and your body the freedom to express, with no judgment in a safe and fun environment.
