From Research Autism:
'The Organization for Autism Research located in Arlington, VA is founded and led by parents, grandparents, and relatives of children and adults with autism. OAR’s mission is to apply research to the challenges of autism. It uses research to help families, educators, caregivers, and individuals with autism find answers to their immediate questions. OAR publishes a series of practical, evidence-based guidebooks; maintains targeted, supportive websites; offers scholarship opportunities for undergraduate students, and also provide resources specifically for military families impacted by autism.
One child in 68 is likely to have autism and the cause is still unknown. What is known is that early intervention can help children with autism enjoy fuller, more complete lives, and that access to evidence-based information helps families make more informed decisions about their child’s care. OAR strives to change lives one study, one resource, one person at a time.
RUN FOR AUTISM is OAR’s signature fundraising program, with over 7500 participants raising almost $7 million since 2003. Anyone can join the team, whether they are walking or jogging their first 5K, running their 50th ultramarathon or competing in an iRONMAN event. The program is a charity partner with major half marathons, marathons, triathlons and other endurance events across the Country. $0.87 of each dollar raised directly supports research and programs that inform and assist families impacted by autism.
The RUN FOR ATUISM team has guaranteed entries for the SOLD OUT Marine Corps Marathon. Join today and become part of the 200 runner team! By using an OAR charity bib you will be required to meet a fundraising minimum.
