This practical system of self-development uses yoga-like postures, breath and guided meditation that relax the body, open the meridians and clear the mind. Exercises are easy to perform yet sophisticated in re-establishing harmony with the natural flow of forces within and around us.
In this weekly class on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, we'll incorporate a gentle, yet invigorating warm-up; a gradual progression of yoga poses (asanas) to strengthen and stretch the body; corrective breathing techniques (pranayama) to calm and relax the body and mind, forging a mind-body connection; and mental visualization exercises to assist seniors in feeling successful in all aspects of their lives through yoga, thus uplifting the spirit.

Sahara Dance is a boutique dance studio dedicated to celebrating the joy and beauty of belly dance and creating a community for belly dancers. Founded in 2002 by Rachel Kay Brookmire, Sahara Dance offers 50 weekly classes at two locations in DC and MD and is home to over 1,000 belly dancers.

The studio is home to 20 faculty members, 10 resident performance companies, and over 1,000 belly dancers.
