The neighborhood’s first yoga studio, Yoga NoMa, will open in an unused retail space on First Street, NE. Free outdoor promotional classes will take place throughout the neighborhood October 1-10, and the studio will open on October 15. Yoga NoMa is a full-service yoga and mat pilates studio that will operate in 1200 First Street, NE, thanks to an investment by the NoMa Business Improvement District in partnership with Principal Real Estate Investment and Polinger Shannon and Luchs. The design of the space was graciously provided by local NoMa architecture firm Ayers Saint Gross.

Studio Information: October 15
With great donated space, talented, experienced teachers can be secured and class fees can remain low, enabling Yoga NoMa to serve yogis from all backgrounds without breaking the bank. A variety of classes seven days a week will enable residents, students, visitors and employees to find a class that fits their needs.
The studio will be managed by yoga professional Julia Romano, a 500-hour certified hatha and vinyasa flow instructor, who is trained in clinical psychology and studying yoga therapy. Yoga NoMa is located in a ground-floor space at 1200 First Street, NE, at M Streets, NE. Yogis should enter through the lobby entrance, pass the front desk, and follow signs to the studio.

Additional thanks to Ayers Saint Gross; the firm’s interior architecture practice focuses on enhancing clients’ organizational missions through high-quality designs. The yoga studio incorporates rapidly renewable bamboo flooring, non-VOC paints and custom ceiling fans to move air throughout the space. Lighting is supplied from energy-efficient fixtures to brighten the studio.
